Woman Charged in Fatal Hit-And-Run Incident In Waterford
Police said a 74-year old East Lyme woman has been charged in a Waterford hit-and-run incident that resulted in a New London man's death.

WATERFORD, CT - Police said a 74-year old East Lyme woman has been charged with negligent homicide and more in connection to a hit-and-run incident that occurred earlier this year. Police said the incident resulted in a New London man's death.
Police said the suspect, Shirley Langford, turned herself in to Waterford police Thursday, according to a release. Police said the department held an active warrant for her arrest. (To sign up for Waterford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
The warrant was based on an investigation into a fatal motor vehicle accident in the area of Hartford Road (Route 85) and Dayton Place in Waterford on January 18. Police said the accident resulted in the death of Kim Weeks of New London, whose body was discovered the following morning.

Investigators subsequently determined the collision occurred between the hours of 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., police said.
Police said Langford’s license was seized the following day and transmitted to the Department of Motor Vehicles for retesting and evaluation. Police said several items were seized throughout the investigation as evidence, including Langford’s vehicle.

Some of the items seized were subjected to additional testing by the State of Connecticut forensic Laboratory in Meriden, police said.
Police said Langford was charged with negligent homicide, evading responsibility and failure to drive right. She was released on a promise to appear in court June 5, police said.
