2nd Arrest Made In Homicide Tied To West Hartford Crash
A second arrest has been made related to a homicide case with ties to a crash in West Hartford.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A second arrest has been made related to a homicide case with ties to a crash in West Hartford.
Hartford police announced the arrest Thursday. A suspect was in custody on a $1.25 million bond. He was later identified as Edwin Franqui, 29, of Hartford. He was charged with charged with murder, accessory to murder, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm and first-degree assault, .
The case is related to the July 6 death of the 19-year-old driver, Junny Lara-Velazquez.

The shooting occurred in Hartford in the area of Prospect and Capitol avenues, according to a reports. A Honda Accord was fired upon at about 2 p.m. and, moments later, the car crashed into the side of the Subway sandwich shop at 1037 Boulevard in West Hartford, police said.
The driver later died from his injuries. A 17-year-old female passenger had a gunshot wound to the thigh and a third passenger, a 16-year-old female, was not shot but sustained injuries from the crash, according to police.

Last week, the HPD arrested the first a suspect in the case — Franqui's younger brother — and charged him with murder, accessory to murder and first-degree assault.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
