3 Hospitalized After Carbon Monoxide Incident In West Hartford

Three people were taken to the hospital after high levels of carbon monoxide were found throughout a building on Sunday morning.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Three people were hospitalized after high levels of carbon monoxide were found throughout a building that serves as both a business and a residence on Sunday morning, according to fire officials. Emergency crews responded to 309 North Main St. at about 8:15 a.m. after an occupant reported seeing soot in the building. Four occupants were found inside of the building.

“Fire companies discovered high levels of carbon monoxide throughout the building in both living areas and mechanical areas,” fire officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “In some places, the levels of carbon monoxide were at or close to levels immediately dangerous to life or health. The occupants were rapidly escorted out of the building and immediately treated by emergency medical services crews. Three of the four victims were transported to area hospitals.”

The extent of the victims’ injuries were unknown as of Sunday morning but officials believed them to be non-life threatening. The investigation is focused on the heating components of the building, according to fire officials.
