ADHD Children's Parents To Gather At West Hartford Event

A local educational non-profit is hosting a forum for parents of teens and tweens with ADHD.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Parents of children with "attention deficit hyperactivity disorder," know that ADHD is not some fake, parental mumbo jumbo to describe children who learn differently and can act out.

And a program — called "ADHD Parenting: Navigating the Tween and Teen Years" —at the West Hartford Public Library's Noah Webster site on Wednesday, Oct. 18, will prove to be beneficial for such parents.

The program is in Webster's meeting room on the first floor of the 20 S. Main St. library and is being hosted by the "West Hartford Community of Concern" organization.

Students with ADHD often have a difficult time focusing on tasks, which often leads to behavior issues.

It can be controlled with medication, but navigating this path can be complicated for parents because doing so requires set routines, perfect timing and fickle dosage amounts.

Wednesday's forum, specifically, will deal with issues regarding ADHD in teens and tweens and will feature an opportunity for parents to "share their experiences and resources."
