Organizers said the collection will proceed rain or shine.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the chapel garage bay at the cemetery, located at 200 Whitman Ave. No advance registration is required.

The flags were placed at veterans’ graves earlier this month as part of Memorial Day commemorations.

After collection, the flags will be stored for reuse during Veterans Day observances later this year.

American Legion Post 96 said anyone interested in assisting can simply arrive at the designated meeting location before the start time.
