WEST HARTFORD, CT — Families can pick up free backpacks and school supplies while enjoying music, games, and other activities Sunday at a back-to-school event in Blue Back Square.
The Back to School Bash & Backpack Giveaway is scheduled for Aug. 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the prominent West Hartford shopping and dining destination.
Elevate WeHa is organizing the event in partnership with the Town of West Hartford and community organizations.
The event is intended to help local students and families prepare for the start of the school year.
Activities will include a backpack and school supply giveaway, a live DJ, music from School of Rock, live art, games, and prizes. Food and refreshments will also be available.
Community vendors will participate, and families will be able to connect with organizations offering wellness and prevention resources.
Organizers said the event is designed to bring students, families, neighbors, and community partners together while helping young people begin the school year prepared.
