2. Driver, Cyclist Injured In West Hartford Rollover Crash; Utility Pole Snapped: Police: UPDATE (patch.com) — Emergency crews in West Hartford responded to a serious rollover crash on South Quaker Lane that injured both a driver and a cyclist and snapped a utility pole, bringing down live wires. Both victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, the road was closed between Carol Road and Talcott Road for utility repairs, and police are asking witnesses to contact their traffic division with information.
3. West Hartford PD Seeks Citizen's Police Academy Applicants (patch.com) — West Hartford residents can apply now for the 2026 Citizen's Police Academy, an eight-week, free program at police headquarters that starts September 30. Participants will explore everything from 911 communications and K-9 operations to crime scene work and ride-alongs, helping residents better understand how their local department operates and serves the community.
4. Town of West Hartford Continues Vision Zero Progress, Upgrades to Road Safety - We-Ha (we-ha.com) — West Hartford is rapidly rolling out more than 200 Vision Zero road-safety projects this year, from raised crosswalks and bike lanes to new signal timing and lower school-zone speed limits. Neighborhoods near schools, West Hartford Center, New Park Avenue, and major corridors like Farmington and North Main are seeing changes designed to protect pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers while leveraging major federal grants.
5. West Hartford Strives To Get Kids Off Nicotine (patch.com) — West Hartford has secured a $9,600 grant to expand youth nicotine prevention and quit-support services, including educational outreach and free "quit kits" for residents. The Town Council unanimously amended the 2026-27 budget to accept the funds, which will be used by Social Services/Prevention Partnership to curb nicotine use and improve access to cessation resources locally.
