Deadlines Approaching in West Hartford for Energy Assistance, Renters' Rebate Programs - We-Ha (we-ha.com) — West Hartford residents still have time to apply for emergency energy assistance this month and for the state Renters' Rebate program through Sept. 30. Local Social Services is helping eligible seniors, disabled adults, and low-income renters access rebates up to $900. Applications and income limits are clearly outlined, with phone numbers and websites for quick help.
3. West Hartford's North Cemetery: Final Resting Place of War Heroes, Well Known Families, and the Indigent - We-Ha (we-ha.com) — North Cemetery on North Main Street is the focus of a new self-guided tour highlighting notable West Hartford residents, war veterans, and those buried in Potter's Field. Town Historian Mary Donohue's brochure series, part of the America 250 initiative, offers residents a way to explore local history on foot. New Britain Man Indicted for Gun Possession and Drug Distribution Offenses in West Hartford - We-Ha (we-ha.com) — Police say a New Britain man has pleaded not guilty after being federally indicted for allegedly dealing fentanyl and cocaine and carrying a gun on New Park Avenue in West Hartford. Local officers and the FBI's Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force tracked and arrested him after a high‑speed flight, and he now faces serious federal firearm and drug charges that could bring decades in prison.
5. West Hartford high school senior writes book to help teens struggling with mental illness (wtnh.com) — A 16-year-old West Hartford high school senior has turned her own mental health struggles into a horror novel meant to help other teens feel less alone. After publishing "Forever Darkness" at 14, she now speaks at signings, designs a related game, and dreams of running a holistic health center to support people facing similar challenges.
