Lisa H. Conti appointed to the founding faculty of the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University

Lisa H. Conti, of West Hartford, has been appointed to the founding faculty of the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University.

As an assistant professor of medical sciences, Conti will be responsible for teaching neuroscience and biostatistics courses at Connecticut’s newest medical school, which will
offer its first classes in August 2013.

“It is very exciting to be a member of the faculty of the Quinnipiac University School of Medicine,” Conti said. “I am joining a talented and dedicated group of educators. Together, we will provide medical students with an evidence-based and vibrant medical education that will equip them to become patient-centered physicians.”

Conti comes to Quinnipiac from the University of Connecticut, where she was an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Neuroscience Program. Before that, Conti was an assistant project scientist and assistant adjunct professor at the University of California, San Diego. She also has taught in the psychology departments at Middlebury College, Trinity College of Vermont and the University of Vermont. Conti also worked as a project scientist at Nova Pharmaceutical Corp. of Baltimore.

Conti earned her doctorate and master’s degree in biopsychology from the University of Vermont. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the  University of Rhode Island. A member of the Society for Neuroscience, Conti has published more than 25 articles in neuroscience and pharmacology journals.

Dr. Bruce Koeppen, founding dean of the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac, said, “I am very pleased to have Lisa as a member of our founding faculty. Her experience and expertise is broad based, and includes neuroscience, psychology, pharmacology and biostatistics. She will contribute in many ways to the development
and delivery of our curriculum.”

The Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine, which will train primary care physicians, has named St. Vincent’s Medical Center, of Bridgeport, as its primary clinical partner. The medical school also has affiliations with Middlesex Hospital, of Middletown, and MidState
Medical Center, of Meriden. The medical school, which will have 60 students in its first class, has received preliminary accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and approval by the state Board of
Education.
