April 4 Community Roundtable Discussion "The Many Faces of Parkinson's"

On Friday, April 4th, please join The Mercy Community, along with Duncaster Retirement Community and the University of Hartford’s Presidents’ College as we co-host a Community Roundtable Discussion entitled “The Many Faces of Parkinson’s.” At 9:30 a.m. in the Wilde Auditorium on the University of Hartford’s campus, The Mercy Community’s Director of Physiatry Dr. Robert Krug, and Christine Ludwig, author of Notes from Movers and Shakers with Parkinson, will speak about their personal and professional experiences with Parkinson’s. Catherine Certo, P.T., Sc.D., FAPTA, department chair, program director and professor of physical therapy in the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions at the University of Hartford, and Louis Manzione, dean of the University of Hartford’s College of Engineering, Technology and Architecture (CETA) will follow with a panel discussion at 10:30 a.m. Their backgrounds will contribute to a dynamic and informative conversation.

All are welcome to attend, including both professional and family caregivers, individuals of all physical abilities, and those who are now dealing with the effects of Parkinson’s. Guests are encouraged to share their experiences, ask questions and reach out to others whose lives have been touched by this disease. We feel every perspective is valuable and we wish to provide important information and inspire hope for those who attend.

Immediately following the discussion, a luncheon will be held in the 1877 Club in the University’s Harry Jack Gray Center. The morning’s presentations are free of charge; tickets for the luncheon are $35 a person. Guests are asked to arrive at 9:00 a.m. Please register in advance for both. To reserve seats today, contact The President’s College at The University of Hartford at (860) 768-4495. We will accommodate dietary restrictions or special needs, with advance notice.
