Arrest Made In Fatal West Hartford Pedestrian Hit-And-Run
West Hartford police have made an arrest in a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run incident.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford police said Thursday that an arrest has been made in connection with a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run incident on Route 44 in April.
Sharon Esson, 52, of Hartford, was taken into custody on a warrant Wednesday and charged with evading responsibility in a crash involving a death.
Esson surrendered at the West Hartford Police Department and was initially held on a
$50,000 court-set bond, pending an arraignment at Hartford Superior Court later Wednesday. A judge then knocked the bond down to a promise to appear back in court on Aug. 5, court records show.

Police said no additional arrests are expected, but added the case continues to be an "active investigation."
The incident dates back to the morning of April 10, when West Hartford police closed off a section of Route 44 after a body was found on the side of the road.

The road, known locally as Albany Avenue, was shut down between, Prospect Avenue and Whetten Road just after 7 a.m., police said. It was re-opened about two hours later.
Authorities said officers received a report from a jogger who saw what appeared to be a dead body. Police then found a deceased man, later identified as Isaac Alvarez, 19, of Hartford, a report indicates.
The West Hartford Police Department and the Hartford Police Department Intelligence Unit then identified a "suspect vehicle" as well as a "person of interest," a report indicates.
