Asylum Seekers One Year Later

February 27 World Affairs discussion to showcase the personal stories of asylum seekers after a year of waiting

The February 27 World Affairs discussion will showcase the personal stories of asylum seekers after a year of waiting to move on. The free public forum will be held at Duncaster from 10:00 to noon. It is open to the public with preregistration.

European countries have approached the refugee problem in different ways. Some have been welcoming while others have been hostile and repressive. In every case, the demands upon resources have been daunting. In some instances, populations which were initially welcoming have become increasingly unhappy with the problems of assimilating so many people of such differing cultures.

“We will see the issue through the eyes of the refugees,” says World Affairs facilitator Herb Hershenson. “Much of the footage we will see was taken by the refugees and migrants themselves. Some of it is again heartbreaking and some of it is heartwarming. These are amazing stories.”
