West Hartford House Damaged By Fire
Firefighters were called to the scene Sunday afternoon for the reported kitchen fire.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — No one was injured in a small house fire Sunday, as West Hartford firefighters were able to quickly arrive and snuff out the blaze before it became an inferno.
According to the West Hartford Fire Department, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Sunday, the West Hartford Public Safety Dispatch Center received a report of a possible kitchen fire at 362 Oakwood Ave. that was called in by a passerby.
West Hartford units were immediately dispatched and arrived on scene in under four minutes, authorities said.

The first arriving units reported a working kitchen fire and immediately began an offensive fire attack while simultaneously checking the structure to ensure all civilians had exited, the WHFD said.
It was confirmed that the lone elderly resident of the home was able to self-evacuate and was waiting outside the home when the first arriving units arrived, fire officials said.

Acting WHFD Deputy Chief William Beebe called for additional West Hartford units, UConn Fire, Hartford Fire and an AMR ambulance.
"After an aggressive, well-coordinated interior fire attack by fire companies, the bulk of the fire was knocked down the incident was quickly placed under control," wrote the WHFD. "No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported during the incident."
The West Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating this fire and the lead investigator is Assistant Chief Robert Grimaldi.
"West Hartford Fire appreciates the assistance of the WHPD, Eversource, CNG, and AMR for their assistance at the scene. Additionally, we would like to thank Hartford Fire and UConn Fire for town coverage while our crews were engaged in fire suppression activities," wrote the WHFD.
