Colby-Sawyer College, New London NH

  • This fall, Colby-Sawyer proudly welcomed Phoebe Carter of West Hartford,. She is majoring in nursing. Colby-Sawyer's enrollment for the incoming Class of 2023 increased by 11% from last year despite declining enrollment figures both regionally and nationally at small, private liberal arts institutions.

Lehigh University, Bethlehem PA

  • Clare Marx of West Hartford enrolled at Lehigh University as part of the Class of 2023. The members of the Class of 2023 represent 42 U.S. states and territories, including Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, and 26 countries, and is also one of the most diverse and competitive classes ever admitted to Lehigh.

SUNY Oneonta, Oneonta NY

  • Finn Ashworth of West Hartford joins the SUNY Oneonta family this fall. Ashworth is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Geography. The newest Red Dragons officially joined the Oneonta family by walking through the historic pillars of Old Main during the traditional Pass Through the Pillars ceremony on the campus quad the night before classes began.

University of Vermont, Burlington VT

  • On Saturday, Aug.17, 2019 more than 270 first-year UVM students, led by 68 upper class leaders began their University of Vermont experience as part of TREK, a unique, 7-day first year enrichment program sponsored by UVM's Department of Student Life. For 40 years, UVM's TREK program has sent new students all over the state of Vermont to explore the region's wilderness, develop leadership skills, and work on community service projects. TREK is one of the biggest and most diverse new-student, collegiate, community building programs in the northeast region. Annika Ligon and William Robinson, both of West Hartford, participated in Sea Kayaking. A part of the Wilderness TREK program which provides students the opportunity to build lasting friendships, initiate self-discovery, and explore the people and landscapes that are Vermont, Sea Kayaking TREK provides incoming students an opportunity to navigate the bays, points and islands of Lake Champlain - exploring and learning more about its rich ecosystem diversity and Native American cultural history. Participants collectively plied their paddling and navigation skills, traveling in flotillas.
