Car Takes Out Utility Pole In West Hartford Crash

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A car took out a utility pole in West Hartford early Thursday.

The one-car crash took place at 1:05 Thursday morning in the area of 343 South Main St.

First-responders found a vehicle on its side and a utility pole severed at its base when arriving on the scene, according to a crash report.

The driver was helped out of the vehicle by West Hartford firefighters. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle, police said.

The man was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non- life threatening injuries, police said.

The driver was issued an infraction for failure to drive right and issued verbal warnings for failure to wear a seat belt, distracted driving — other than a cell phone and traveling unreasonably fast, police said. The road was closed until about 4 p.m.
