Car Thief Arrested After Crash: West Hartford Police

Police say the man stole a car that was left running in a gas station parking lot.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A suspected car thief was arrested after crashing the stolen car in Hartford, according to West Hartford Police. At about 9:15 a.m. on Nov. 24, a West Hartford police officer was inside the Shell Gas Station on the corner of Trout Brook Drive and Farmington Avenue when he was alerted that someone just stole a car that was left running in the parking lot.

Police said the stolen car was spotted in Hartford and the attempt to “stop stick the vehicle was unsuccessful.” To sign up for West Hartford breaking news alerts and more, click here.

“The car fled at a high rate of speed where it later crashed and the suspect was taken into custody,” police wrote in the report. “West Hartford Units did not pursue.”

Jhuge Arnold, 35, was arrested on charges of third-degree larceny and operating under suspension. Hartford Police will be applying for an arrest warrant for the crash, according to West Hartford Police.
