West Hartford PZC To Discuss, Vote On HS Athletic Facility Project
Following closure of the hearing, the PZC will vote on the proposal, something that could happen as soon as Monday.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Plans to build a multi-sport, artificial turf complex at a local Catholic high school officials go before the town Monday, Oct. 3.
The West Hartford Plan & Zoning Commission will host a public hearing on the proposal for Northwest Catholic High Schools at 7:15 p.m. in room 314 of West Hartford Town Hall, 50 S. Main St.
Northwest Catholic, located at 29 Wampanoag Drive, is seeking a special use permit to convert its existing natural grass fields to a multi-sport, synthetic turf field.

Following closure of the hearing, the PZC will vote on the proposal, something that could happen as soon as Monday.
According to Luke J. McCoy, a principal of the New Britain-based Kaestle Boos Associates architectural firm, Northwest Catholic, a private, Catholic high school serving students from several area towns, wants to begin work later this fall.

The application was submitted to the town in August and the hearing was scheduled by the PZC Sept. 7.
Like the current grass field, the new artificial turf field would serve the school's football, soccer, lacrosse and baseball teams.
In addition, McCoy said, Northwest Catholic plans to undertake multiple stadium enhancements to improve the site, including new baseball dugouts, bullpens, batting cages and storage as well as new bleachers.
He said, if all is approved, construction would be done in time for the spring sports seasons next year.
