We chose this word today because we’ve been saying it a lot lately. (Well, I’VE been saying it a lot!)
Listen to the jingle of bells, listen to the joy of the season, listen to giggles of…. NOPE.

“Are you LISTENING to me???? Really LISTENING???” I say reminding the girls that's it's past their bedtime and teeth are still unbrushed.

Do you ever have one of those days where it feels like nobody is listening to you? At all?
When 7 was in first grade, she came home from school excited to tell me the meaning of the word LISTEN.
“Do you know what the difference between to hear and to listen is mom? Huh do you?” she asked.
Before I could answer, she answered…
“My teacher told us it means this... you hear words with your ears and you listen when the words go into your ears, then into your brain and you remember them and understand them.”
Love it. Perfect definition.
It seems lately we are just hearing and not listening in this house. Especially at bedtime. Or maybe it’s more like selective hearing…
I’m hoping tomorrow is a better LISTENING day! Have a good night everyone :-)
