DOT Suspends Subcontractor Involved in West Hartford Fatal Accident
The subcontractor was involved in back-to-back incidents on bridges including one in Groton on Tuesday.

After back-to-back incidents including Wednesday’s fatal accident in West Hartford, the state Department of Transportation has immediately suspended McClain & Co., a subcontractor hired to perform routine bridge inspections, reports NBC Connecticut.
On Tuesday, crews from McClain & Co. were trapped in the bucket of a truck on Interstate 95 while inspecting the Gold Star Bridge in Groton. No one was injured, and the members were rescued.
On Wednesday though, one person died in an accident during a bridge inspection in West Hartford.

An employee was killed when his truck tipped over and crushed him on the entrance ramp, according to NBC Connecticut.
NBC reports the victim was using a snooper truck and was standing between the truck and the bridge railing, retracting the truck’s arm, when the truck tipped over and crushed him.
