Find Out What Dishes You Need to Try in CT Before You Die

CT Now has released a "bucket list" of the best dishes in the state.

Connecticut is no stranger to delicious food.

With its perfect situation on the coastline and close proximity to culinary epicenters like New York City and Boston, residents of Connecticut are used to consuming quality dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

CT Now recently released a bucket list of the best dishes in the state. The idea is to try each of them at least once before you “kick the bucket” one day.

A number of different cities and towns in a number of different counties are included on the list, encompassing the culinary craft of the state as a whole.

New Haven’s signature pizza style is well-represented, with both the Tarry Lodge’s guanciale pizza and the famous white clam pizza at Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana both making the list. But New Haven has not monopolized delicious pizza in Connecticut, with the brussels pizza at Krust in Middletown also earning a mention.

The deputy dog at Woody’s Hot Dogs in Hartford offers a unique handheld option for lunch or dinner (or breakfast if you are so daring). Likewise, the “Bernice Original” cheeseburger at Shady Glen’s in Manchester is not to be missed.

If a sit-down dish that takes a little time to finish is more what you’re craving, then dishes like the smoked meatloaf Smokin’ with Chris in Southington and Vinted in West Hartford’s “Foie Heaven’s Sake” (which of course earns extra points for well-played wordplay) might be more to your liking.

Those craving something sweet for dessert are asked to seek out the dark chocolate s’more at Rizzuto’s in West Hartford or the cannolis at Russo’s Bakery in Enfield.
