UPDATE: Fire Crews Fight West Hartford Bedroom Blaze

Fire officials said the blaze is believed to have been started by a cellphone charging near a bed.

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Two West Hartford firefighters were injured Tuesday morning after battling a fire, while a 9-year old boy was credited with alerting his grandmother of the blaze.

Fire officials said the fire broke out in the bedroom of a Rosemary Court house around 1:30 a.m. Crews said the second floor of the house was badly damaged as a result of the incident, according to a release.

Upon arrival, the fire department found flames coming from a second story window.

A person inside the home at the time of the incident was treated for smoke inhalation, while two firefighters were also being treated for minor burn injuries. Fire officials said two others were in the home at the time, but made it out safely.

The fire department found flames coming from the second story window of the building upon arrival, however all of the occupants had exited the building safely.

Fox 61 reported that a 9-year old boy has been credited by the department for alerting his grandmother of the presence of smoke in the house.

Firefighters additionally rescued one cat from the fire, which was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes. The bulk of the fire was contained in the second story bedroom, however smoke and water damage was throughout the building.

The fire is still under investigation at this time.
