Former Coach Granted Rehab In Student Sexual Assault Case

A former West Hartford student teacher/coach was arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student earlier this year.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The charges against a former student teacher and assistant track coach at Conard High School in West Hartford for allegedly sexually assaulting an 18-year-old student could be dropped under a rehabilitation program, according to the New Britain Herald.

The Herald reports Tayler Boncal, 23, was granted accelerated rehabilitation Thursday and the case will be dismissed if she successfully completes the requirements of the program, including not having any contact with the student and not having a job where she has any supervision over students.

Boncal was arrested in February on three counts of second-degree sexual assault for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student. The arrest stemmed from an investigation that began on Jan. 12 after New Britain Police were alerted by the West Hartford school system, police said. Boncal was living in New Britain during the time of their relationship and New Britain Police obtained the arrest warrant.
