Former School Employee Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Student
A former West Hartford student teacher/coach was arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student, according to police.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A 22-year-old former student teacher and assistant track coach with the West Hartford school district is accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old student, according to New Britain Police.
Taylor Boncal, 22, was arrested on three counts of second-degree sexual assault for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student. The arrest stems from an investigation that began on Jan. 12, according to New Britain Police.
Boncal, who was employed by the West Hartford School System, was accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old male student from a West Hartford High School. Police said the investigation showed that Boncal was living in New Britain during the time of their relationship.

The West Hartford school system alerted the New Britain Police Department of the allegation and an investigation was initiated. New Britain Police obtained an arrest warrant for Boncal, who turned herself in this week.
West Hartford school officials told NBC Connecticut that Boncal was an assistant track coach at Conard High School from December 2017 until she was terminated last month. A parent notified school officials of the alleged relationship and police were contacted immediately, according to NBC.

Boncal had completed her student teaching in the fall of 2017 but was still working with the West Hartford school district as an assistant track coach, the Hartford Courant reports.
Boncal was released on a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 1, according to state judicial records.
