Free Support Group for Parents Concerned About Substance Abuse

A free open support group for parents concerned about substance abuse will begin weekly meetings on Wednesday, January 31

A free open support group for parents concerned about substance abuse will begin weekly meetings on Wednesday, January 31. The group will meet every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at the offices of The Next Right Thing. LLC, 345 North Main Street, Suite 306, West Hartford.

Any parent concerned about their late teens’ marijuana or other substance use may join and participate in one or more sessions. The group will be led by Julian N. Hartt Jr., MSW, LCSW, Clinical Director and Co-Founder of The Next Right Thing. Hartt is a veteran clinician working with adolescents in variety of clinical and school settings.

“We’re offering this support group to the public because there are ongoing concerns about this group of adolescents. These kids are experiencing complex mental health and addiction problems. Without parent support and understanding, the chances of these adolescents accepting responsibility for their at-risk behaviors are nil. Research clearly supports the idea that family involvement leads to successful outcomes for troubled teens.”
