Harc President/CEO Andrea Barton Reeves to Assume New Position

Harc President and CEO Andrea Barton Reeves has accepted a position as the first Chief Executive Officer of the Connecticut Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Authority (PFML). She will continue to lead Harc until Feb. 27 and will begin her new position on Mar. 2. During the search for a permanent replacement, Annette Hargrove, Harc’s Vice President of Administration, will serve as interim CEO.

Barton Reeves has informed Harc’s board and staff. The board has already formed a search committee; will be choosing an experienced outside search consultant and expects to announce its selection within the next few months. Harc has a detailed succession plan, which Barton Reeves created and has been in place for over five years.

“The organization is strong and well-prepared to continue its mission of supporting the needs of people with intellectual and related disabilities and their families,” says Harc’s board chair, Najib O. Habesch. “This is due, in large part, to Andrea’s leadership of our organization since 2013. During her time as the President and CEO of Harc, Andrea has transformed our organization’s operating model; stabilized the organization’s finances and overseen enhancements in the technology we use to serve our clients and their families. We are a stronger, more stable and more responsive organization today because of the dedication and heart she brought to her position. We thank her for her service to this organization and wish her well in her new position.”

Before taking over the position of President and CEO, Barton Reeves served as Harc’s Vice President of Administration and In-House Counsel. Barton Reeves’ career before HARC, Inc. included serving as the Director of Program Operations at Lawyers for Children America, Inc.; engaging in the practice of law, and working in the insurance industry in the leadership development program at Chubb.

It’s been my great honor and good fortune [to be a] … part of Harc’s long and storied journey. I will always be proud of the work we’ve done together.”
