Husband, Wife Both Charged for West Hartford Hookah Lounge Sword Fight

The couple was arrested on Friday.

The husband and wife who were both seriously injured in a sword fight at their West Hartford hookah lounge have both been arrested and charged with assault.

George Ayoub, 47, and his wife, Najeh Frehi, 24, were both arrested Friday morning.

Ayoub was charged with first-degree assault on an elderly, blind, disabled, intellectually disabled or pregnant person. He was held on a $1 million bond and was scheduled to be arraigned at Hartford Superior Court on Friday.

Frehi was charged with first-degree assault and was held on a $100,000 bond and was also scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.

The arrests stem from a domestic violence incident at the Arabian Nights hookah lounge on April 22.

Police received a 911 call around 3 a.m. from Ayoub reporting his wife had stabbed him.

Ayoub, who owns the lounge, suffered a serious abdominal injury in the domestic violence incident. Frehi, who was found outside down the street from the lounge by the responding officers, was treated for cuts to her hands and stab wounds to her shoulders.

Police recovered a large sword at the scene.
