Jewish Family Services Joins Global #GivingTuesday Movement

WEST HARTFORD, CT - From Jewish Family Services of Greater Hartford: Jewish Family Services of Greater Hartford has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Over 50 representatives from Jewish Family Services (JFS), the Jewish Federation Women’s Philanthropy and Deeds for Needs came together today to give back by making many local families’ holiday wishes come true.

Hundreds of wishes were fulfilled for JFS clients with gifts and toys as well as handmade blankets for the holidays and personal hygiene and household cleaning supplies. Deeds for Needs Founders Robin Fierston and Melissa Weinstock expressed, “It was a wonderful event as our community came together to help those in need by giving with our hands and hearts. #GivingTuesday inspires personal philanthropy and is a meaningful way to kick off the holiday season by supporting local families.”

Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

JFS focuses on three core areas: Counseling, Education, and Community Support, and utilizes a variety of counseling treatment approaches and can help clients address a wide range of issues.
