Kia/Hyundai Wheel Locks Available at West Hartford PD

The free wheel locks are part of a national class-action settlement involving the South Korean automakers and vehicle security.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford resident owning a Kia or Hyundai can now venture to the town's police department and get free steering wheel locks to guard against theft.

The availability of the locks is part of a nationwide, class-action lawsuit settlement in which it was determined that Kia and Hyundai automobiles are too easy to steal and have been targeted.

As a result, owners of these South Korean automakers' vehicle can get free wheel locks go guard against theft.

The West Hartford Police Department announced the wheel lock availability over the weekend, with local residents owning Kias or Hyundais able to get them at WHPD headquarters at 103 Raymond Road.

The locks are actually available to both West Hartford residents and business owners and proof of citizenship or business ownership is required to get the free locks.

"The locks will be available at the front desk of the West Hartford Police Department," wrote the WHPD.

"Citizens will need to provide proof of affected ownership and residency to obtain a lock. If you meet these requirements, please come down and visit us."
