Major Ice Skating Competition Comes To West Hartford This Weekend
High school skaters from throughout the Northeast will compete in the Eastern Sectional Finals at the Veterans Memorial Rink.
WEST HARTFORD, CT —The next Alysa Liu may just be competing in West Hartford this weekend.
The New England InterClub Council will host the 2026 Eastern Sectional High School Final from Friday, March 27, to Sunday, March 29, at the Veterans Memorial Skating Rink, 56 Buena Vista Road.
This major event on the regional skating calendar will bring more than 165 student-athletes from across the Eastern United States to the regional competition.

U.S. Figure Skating sanctions the event and features 24 high school teams representing states including Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and others along the East Coast.
Competitors will participate in multiple events, including the Short Program, Free Skate, Solo Dance, Showcase, and Team Maneuver.

Each performance contributes to a team’s overall score, with cumulative points determining final standings and the designation of New England champion.
Organizers said the competition provides an opportunity for rostered members of registered U.S. Figure Skating high school teams to compete at a sectional level.
Events are scheduled for Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The competition is open to the public, and admission is free. Donations will be accepted.
