Man Caught Burglarizing Cars Overnight In West Hartford: Police

Police found the accused car burglar hiding behind two parked vehicles and arrested him.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford man was arrested after police say he was caught burglarizing vehicles overnight in West Hartford. Police were called to Beverly Road at about 3:15 a.m. on the report of an attempted car burglary.

A man matching the suspect’s description ran away from an officer, who was canvassing an adjacent neighborhood, at about 3:30 a.m., according to police.

The suspect was found hiding between two parked cars on Frederick Road. Police later determined that at least four unlocked vehicles were entered, according to the police report. Assorted merchandise and cash was recovered, police said.

Herman Alexander, 53, of Charter Oak Avenue in Hartford, was arrested and charged with four counts each of third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny and one count each of criminal attempt at third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal trespass. He was held on a $10,000 bond.
