Man Charged With Firing Gun At West Hartford Building: Police

The 43-year-old Bloomfield man is being held on $700,000 bond in connection with the Feb. 20 incident.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local police said Friday they have charged a Bloomfield man in connection with a Feb. 20 gunshot incident in a busy section of town.

According to the West Hartford Police Department, Taffarie Murphy, 43, of Bloomfield, was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm; first-degree reckless endangerment; criminal possession of a firearm; and first-degree criminal mischief.

Murphy was unable to post his $700,000 court-set bond and will be arraigned at Hartford Superior Court on Monday, March 3, police said.

Police said that at about 3:57 p.m. on Feb. 20, officers were dispatched to 450 New Park Ave. for reports of shots being fired.

When officers arrived on the scene, police said, they found evidence of gun fire with damage to the building of 449 New Park Ave.

There were no injuries or victims reported.

Police said officers and detectives conducted interviews, collected evidence and identified a potential suspect in this incident.

As a result, police said they were able to locate and arrest the suspected shooter on the strength of an active arrest warrant.
