Man Talking on Cell Phone While Driving Busted on Cocaine Charges

West Hartford Police seized more than a pound of cocaine during a motor vehicle stop.

West Hartford police charged a Bloomfield man with possessing more than a pound of cocaine during a motor vehicle stop on Thursday, according to the Hartford Courant.

The Courant reports Hydar Husman, 42, was pulled over after an officer observed him talking on a cell phone while driving and changing lanes without signaling.

The officer also smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the car as he approached it and following a search of the car, police found 1 pound, 2 ounces of cocaine, a quarter ounce of marijuana and $2,040 in cash, according to the Courant.

Husman served 12 years in federal prison for importing cocaine following an indictment in 2001, according to the Courant.
