New West Hartford Assistant Fire Chief To Be Sworn In

The new assistant chief starts this week.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — (Via Town of West Hartford): Assistant Fire Chief Greg H. Priest, of Salem, will be sworn in during an oath of office ceremony on Tuesday, July 31, West Hartford Town Manager Matthew Hart announced on Monday. The ceremony will take place at 12 noon in the Town Hall Legislative Chambers, Room 314, 50 South Main Street.

There will be remarks by Fire Chief Gary Allyn, Hart and Mayor Shari Cantor while Town Clerk Essie S. Labrot will administer the oath of office. Priest will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the fire department. He brings with him 20 years of experience.

Prior to joining the West Hartford Fire Department, Priest was the University of Connecticut Fire Chief from 2016 to present. Before taking the top fire position, Priest was deputy chief stationed at the UConn Health Center in Farmington where he worked extensively with the West Hartford Fire Department in mutual aid and emergency medical services roles. Priest’s first day was July 30.
