Northwest Catholic hosts semi-annual blood drive

On November 8, 2019, the Northwest Catholic Student Council hosted its semi-annual blood drive. The American Red Cross collected collected 39 units from NWC students and staff members.

Sixty-one students and staff members signed up to give blood, and 41 made it through the screening. Together they pulled together to reach their goal of 39 units, one more than last spring’s drive.

Following the successful drive, Student Council Moderator Lori DeCrescenzo had this to say: “The Community Service Commissioners showed an incredible sense of leadership and ownership of the event. They, along with the other members of the Community Service Committee, are wonderful examples of the best our NWC students can be — community-focused and compassionate leaders.”

DeCrescenzo continued, “I want to share with you the prayer that the Student Council members wrote themselves, with which we begin every meeting: ‘May the Holy Spirit guide us, the Northwest Catholic High School Student Council, as a community and help us make our school a better place through mind, body, spirit, and imagination. Amen.”

Following the drive, Danielle Huntington, Account Representative of Donor Recruitment and Outreach Connecticut, said, “I say this every year, but Northwest Catholic’s students are just a joy to work with each and every year for the blood drive.” Huntington continued, “It is truly such a pleasure each time we visit Northwest Catholic.”
