According to the WHPD, Officer Andrew Teeter used his partner, K-9 Islay, to help calm the patient and lead the situation toward a successful resolution to all.

Police said Teeter did a personal demonstration of Islay's talents, which were captured on video and released to the public Thursday.

As a condition for the visit with Islay, the patient had to walk to an awaiting ambulance and get the help needed.

It worked.

"This video is one example of how our officers demonstrate the willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty, show empathy, and use de-escalation and human connection to resolve a conflict," the WHPD wrote.
