Popular, Long-Time TV News Anchor Makes Big Career Decision

The long-time, popular, news anchor announced a big career decision on the news this morning.

CONNECTICUT — Popular Morning News Anchor at WFSB 3 TV Irene O'Connor announced a major career change Monday morning. O'Connor has been employed at WFSB 3 TV since 2005 and has been a fixture on the morning news since 2007.

O'Connor was born in Hartford and has also worked in Denver and Providence before coming back home to Connecticut, according to her profile at WFSB 3 TV. She has received numerous awards over the years.

O'Connor explained on the air why she is making the big career change now.

"My big announcement from this morning! Starting on June 1st, I will be changing my role here at Channel 3. I will be leaving the morning show and coming back to work here at Channel 3 freelancing and filling in on different shows. It wa a very difficult decision to make, but my sons just turned 10 over the weekend and they need my attention more than ever. I will be able to take them to school now. I will miss my TV family so much, we truly are a family. Thank you to all the viewers for making our show #1 over the years. I love you all!"

On social media, Michelle Lynn wrote, "Best of luck. You will be missed. Enjoy your family and I look forward to seeing you from time to time."
