Prepare For The Worst At West Hartford Seniors Commission Talk

The West Hartford Senior Citizen Advisory Commission Tuesday will meet to discuss emergency checklists for seniors.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — With two hurricanes causing havoc in the U.S. in recent weeks, West Hartford's senior citizens advisory group is hosting a forum on how seniors can prep for the worst.

The West Hartford Senior Citizens Advisory Commission on Tuesday, Oct. 15, is meeting from 10 a.m. to noon at the Bishops Corner branch of the West Hartford Public Library, 15 Starkel Road.

There, the commission will host Melissa Marquis, medical resilience coordinator, and Robert McCue, deputy emergency management director for the West Hartford Office of Emergency Management.

The forum will take place from 10 to 11 a.m., with the commission's regular meeting happening from 11 a.m. to noon.

This event comes as two hurricanes slammed into Florida in recent weeks, devastating not only the popular retirement location/winter home destination for northeasterners but also inland portions of the southern U.S.
