West Hartford Restaurant To Close In A Few Days
The restaurant will close for good on May 21.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A prominent restaurant specializing in Dominican cuisine is shuttering in West Hartford this month, with its afficionados having about 10 days to enjoy their food.
The Caribe Restaurant in West Hartford announced Friday is is closing its location at 345 Prospect Ave., West Hartford, doing so on its official website and in social media.
Caribe's owners didn't provide a specific reason, only to say "life has taken us in a different direction, but we will surely miss everyone who has come and shared meals, drinks, conversations, laughs and love with us."

Caribe is part of the West Hartford/Hartford area's diverse restaurant offerings, with this eatery offing authentic Caribbean cuiside including such delectables as picadera (fried Domican street food like salami, cheese, pork chunks and tostones) and empanadas.
Most of Caribe's goodbye announcement featured several expressions of gratitude to customers and the community.

"Thank you for being a part of this amazing chapter," wrote the owners. "Come enjoy some last meals and good times before our doors close."
While the reason for Caribe's closure is unclear, restaurants nationally have been struggling with inflation and supply chain issues fueled by the recent Covid pandemic.
That has also led to a large labor shortage, with restaurants struggling to find sufficient waitstaff and cooks.
The good news about Caribe, is the other Caribe Restaurant in Hartford, 686 Park St., remains open and the owners ask West Hartford customers to journey one city over to enjoy their Carribean meals.
