Ruth Jacobson’s “Painted Faces” Exhibit Comes to Duncaster in Apr

Opening reception for the exhibit, on April 15 at 4:00 P.M.

A unique display of paintings by Ruth L. Jacobson will be showcased at the Duncaster Art Gallery during April. There will be an opening reception for the exhibit, called “Painted Faces”, on April 15 at 4:00 P.M. The exhibit will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M until April 27.

The exhibit includes a piece called “Jean Michael,” one of several representative portraits Jacobson has included in a number of exhibitions. “These portraits are an exploration of various cultures, of our differences and of our sameness. When I paint a portrait, I feel a connectedness to my subject, to Earth, to the Universe,” says Jacobson. “I want the viewer to experience what I experience, the light, the vitality, the dignity in each of us and all of nature. It is a joy and an honor to paint.”

She creates her paintings by layering colors and placing them next to one another. Using this technique, Jacobson tries to capture depth and vibrancy. “I see colors, energy and motion, a kind of liquid light in every person, every object, every moment.” says Jacobson.
