WEST HARTFORD, CT — Police in West Hartford are investigating a shooting incident that took place early Sunday morning.

At 2:28 a.m. Sunday, the West Hartford Police Department received a report of shots fired in the Hillcrest Avenue area. Arriving officers located shell casings on the ground and damage "consistent with being struck by gunfire" in an occupied apartment on Hillcrest Avenue and on an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot, according to an incident report.

There were no injuries reported and the incident appears to have been an isolated one, police said.

Police said the incident presented no threats to the public and those involved knew each other.
