South Windsor Man Charged In August West Hartford Crash: Police

The 19-year-old suspect was driving a vehicle that collided with a motorcycle on Aug. 12 in West Hartford, seriously injuring the rider.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local police Tuesday said they charged a 19-year-old South Windsor man for his role in a serious crash in West Hartford in August that seriously hurt a motorcyclist.

According to the West Hartford Police Department Tuesday, Abdul Saeed, 19, of South Windsor, was charged with first-degree assault; speeding; reckless driving; first-degree reckless endangerment; failure to drive right; driving while using a cell phone; a seat belt violation; and driving with illegal tints.

Was was released after posting a $15,000 bond and will appear in Hartford Superior Court on Oct. 24, police said.

On Aug. 12 at about 6:15 p.m., the WHPD and West Hartford Fire Department were called to a motor vehicle collision on Fern Street and Mountain Road.

When responders arrived, they noticed that a passenger vehicle and a motorcyclist had collided.

Police said the adult operator of the motorcycle had "apparent serious injuries" and was taken to the hospital.

The operator of the passenger vehicle, later identified as Saeed, was not injured.
