St. Timothy Middle School Students win Essay Contest

2 students win Writing Award

Student Writing Award

Two students from St. Timothy Middle School in West Hartford have been selected as top ten winners of the Connecticut Laws of Life Essay program. Reagan Baker in 8th grade, and Ryan Micari in 7th grade, are both being honored for their essay writing. Connecticut’s Laws of Life essay program offers a great opportunity for Connecticut students in grades 5–12 to think, reflect, and then write about their core values, principles and ideals that will guide them throughout their lives. Laws of Life is a student writing and character development project that supports writing practice for CT Mastery and CAPT testing. SEE has been administering this program to schools since 2000 and over 50,000 Connecticut students have participated. Public and non-public school participants have recognized the great value in "writing from the heart" to identify their personal laws of life. The program was established by Sir John Templeton in 1987. With the support of the Templeton Foundation, a national Laws of Life essay program has been facilitated as an effective writing and character-building activity with students participating from nations around the world.

These two students along with their Religion teachers, Ms. Cathy Feddor and Ms. Brooke O’Donnell, will be honored at a Character Celebration on May 2nd in New Haven.
