The National French contest, Le Grand Concours, is an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. Students in grades 1-12, in all 50 states and abroad, take a test combining audio and written skills to compete against students with similar educational backgrounds for prizes. Around 75,000 students completed in the 2018 event. Students at Saint Timothy Middle School took the Level 1 test in March and results are as follows.

Also this past March, for the first time, St. Timothy Middle School competed in the National Spanish Exam. The National Spanish Exam is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese and is available to students in grades 6-12 in all 50 states. Our 7th and 8th grade students took part in the National Spanish Exam on different levels 7th graders took level 01 and 8th graders took level 1. The test is comprised of 2 parts: an audio portion and an assessment of student's written skills. The test is devised so that students can compete against other students of the same educational background for prizes and recognition. According to Kevin Cessna-Buscemi National Director of the Exams,"Attaining a medal or honorable mention on the National Spanish Exam is very prestigious because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States".
