State Trooper Issued Warning For 6-Car Crash In West Hartford: Police

The accident occurred earlier this month.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A state trooper has been issued a written warning in connection to a six-car crash that occurred in West Hartford earlier this month. On Aug. 2, West Hartford Police investigated an accident on Albany Avenue at Trout Brook Drive that involved six cars, including a Connecticut State Police cruiser. There were three reported injuries in the accident, including two people who were transported to the hospital, according to Capt. Jeffrey Rose.

Sgt. Anthony Sciarretto was traveling east on Albany Avenue in his cruiser when it collided with two cars that were heading south on King Philip Drive, according to Rose. Three more cars were struck while traveling north on Trout Brook Drive. (To sign up for West Hartford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

The cars on King Philip Drive and Trout Brook Drive were proceeding on a green light and the cruiser was proceeding through a red light, according to Rose.

“Sgt. Sciarretto was responding to a critical incident (barricaded person) call in Willimantic the time of the accident,” Rose said in a press release. “He had his cruiser lights and sirens activated. The conclusion of the investigation is that Sgt. Sciarretto will be issued a written warning for the right-of-way red light violation.”
