Tara’s Closet Pops Up In Bishops Corner In West Hartford

From Jewish Family Services: Jewish Family Services (JFS) and Tara’s Closet has announced the opening of a pop up shop which will serve as a drop off location for Tara’s Closet spring/summer collection, as well as boutique shopping for people in need. The pop up shop will be located at EDENS’ Bishops Corner in West Hartford at 345 North Main Street. Tara's Closet serves all people regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, disability, gender or sexual orientation.

“I am so thankful for our partnership with EDENS’ Bishops Corner,” said Pia Rosenberg Toro, Jewish Family Services President. “Their generosity is a testament to their commitment to our community. Having EDENS as a partner will help us continue to work tirelessly to serve the growing needs of our clients.”

Tara’s Closet, a program of Jewish Family Services, was founded in 2016 through the generosity of Barbara Roth in memory of her daughter, Tara Savin. Tara was a bright young woman who suffered from bipolar disorder. She loved fashion and was all about helping others. In 2010, she lost her battle with mental illness.

“Our dream of having a dedicated space for Tara’s Closet in the heart of our community has become a reality,” said Roth. “It is with great pride that we will be serving our clients in need from this pop up location. I want to thank EDENS for donating the space and for contributing to our cause. This location will help us better serve our clients with a premier store and lots of additional space to house our spring/summer collection.”

“Whether it is from being unemployed, dealing with health care costs or ongoing financial challenges many families find themselves in transition and could use help to meet their most immediate needs,” said Anne Danaher, CEO of Jewish Family Services. This clothing drive will help us improve the quality of life and restore dignity for families as they work toward short or long-term financial stability.”

Tara's Closet provides clothing to individuals and families living in West Hartford, Bloomfield and the entire Greater Hartford area during temporary or long-term times of need. Clothing for men, women and children will provided at no cost.

Spring/summer collection and drop off hours will take place on Wednesday, May 29 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m.
