The Mercy Community, West Hartford’s premier continuing care retirement community, is pleased to announce a recently awarded grant from the Sisters of Mercy, Northeast Community. The $8,000 grant will allow The Mercy Community to aid individuals dealing with homelessness through their “Horizons of Hope” initiative.
Horizons of Hope provides housing for 16 individuals in the Frances Warde Towers Apartments at Saint Mary Home. It also offers services such as job training and spiritual and emotional support, and feeds over 75 people three meals monthly at Saint Elizabeth House in Hartford. A part of Mercy Housing & Shelter, Saint Elizabeth House is a transitional living program that helps those formerly homeless individuals find permanent housing, as well as offering job training to help prepare them for employment leading to self-sufficiency and independence.
