Two Beloved Cops Retire From West Hartford PD

Both were hired on the same day 20 years ago and both are retiring for new endeavors in the same year.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford's finest recently bid a fond farewell to two law enforcers who served their 20 years and have retired from the West Hartford Police Department.

The WHPD March 28 officially said goodbye to Lt. Thomas “Tommy” Lazure and Det. Jen Roman.

According to the WHPD, the duo was hired together on the same day in 2004, and "they now leave our agency 20 years later and enter the next chapters of their lives."

WHPD officials had kind words for the two.

"Words could not do justice to describe the impact that both of these officers have had on both our police department and our community," wrote the WHPD.

"Both proudly served on the department's PEER support team for many years, always friendly faces and confidants to their fellow officers."

Roman most recently served in the professional standards unit and was previously assigned to the community relations division as a community resource officer.

Lazure most recently served as the lieutenant in the detective division and oversaw the community relations division.

Lazure was best known for his achievements and accomplishments as a K-9 dog handler with his faithful partner, K-9 Jett.

"We wish both Tommy and Jen the best in their new chapters and will miss them greatly," wrote the WHPD.

"Their hard work and dedication to the department and town will be remembered forever."
