Blame It On The Rain: Two WeHa Events Postponed Saturday
A pet parade in West Hartford and a traffic barrier art event were postponed due to Saturday's expected rain.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Two community events planned to take place in West Hartford on Saturday, May 20, will not happen after all.
And, like Milli Vanilli in 1989, you can "blame it on the rain."
Predicted rainy weather Saturday prompted organizers to postpone both the Art Barrier Paint Day and a planned pet parade to raise money for a regional animal rescue agency.

The town and West Hartford Art League were to host the paint day to transform concrete traffic barriers on Memorial Road and LaSalle Road into artistic murals to bridge traffic and local businesses.
That event, which was to feature 13 artists chosen by the art league, will now take place on Saturday, June 3. Roads will be closed that day from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.

As part of that project, the Pride Flag mural on Isham Road will be repainted on Wednesday, May 31, weather permitting.
Meanwhile, the second annual "Pet Parade," which was being organized by Bay Equity Home Loans manager Alyssa Caliendo, was postponed indefinitely after being slated for Saturday, May 20.
The hope is to schedule a makeup date for the event, to feature all sorts of costumed pet owners and their furry friends, for later this summer, according to the Town of West Hartford.
Proceeds of this event will benefit a Bloomfield-based animal rescue agency.
