Unbeaten Bristol Central Too Much For Northwest Catholic

The Division II boys basketball final was close at halftime, but top-seeded Bristol Central broke away after intermission.

UNCASVILLE, CT — A 17-7 Bristol Central advantage in the third quarter broke open what had been a 2-point game at halftime, giving the Rams a 56-36 win over Northwest Catholic in the CIAC Division II boys basketball championship game Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

7-foot-2 center Donovan Clingan tallied 25 points and grabbed 24 rebounds, including 14 in the offensive end, to pace Bristol Central's second state title, but first since 1990. Damion Glasper added 15 points for the undefeated champions.

Matthew Curtis was the only Lion to score in double figures, registering 15 points. Badara Diakite had eight points and seven rebounds.
