Unwanted Drugs Being Collected In West Hartford
The collection event Saturday is part of 'National Take Back Day.'

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The town's police and health departments are collaborating on an initiative Saturday to ensure unused prescription drugs don't end up on the streets.
Part of the federal Drug Enforcement Agency's annual "National Take Back Day," West Hartford will be taking back potentially harmful, unwanted prescription or other drugs Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will be at the Charter Oak International Academy parking lot, 425 Oakwood Ave.

Guests can arrive via Flatbush Avenue and volunteers will be on hand to take items from participants' vehicles.
Locally, the program is being hosted by the West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District and West Hartford Police Department.

Participants can remain anonymous and disposal is free of charge.
Items being accepted are prescription and over-the-counter dosage medications, such as tablets, capsules, vaping products and liquid medication.
"Please protect your identity by removing medications from the pill bottles and placing them in sealed plastic bags," wrote the Town of West Hartford.
Items that will not be accepted include intravenous solutions, injectable medicines, needles and Epipens.
